This wasn’t the first time University of Cincinnati graduate and Fairfield businessman Matt Brennan encountered a dead body on a mountain. It was, however, his first brush with a recently deceased climber.

Farewells were given to some members of the Board of Trustees at the May meeting, in which five members made their final appearance. The University is preparing to swear in a group of five new trustees on Aug. 1. Three of them have already been chosen.

One Hundred Fifty-Five Years Ago, the actions of 1st Lt. Edward Bancroft Williston (Alpha/Norwich 1856) on June 12, 1864 at the Battle of Trevilian Station, VA led to his nomination for a Medal of Honor. Williston commanded Battery D, 2nd United States Artillery during the Civil War.

Theta Chi Fraternity is saddened to announce Billy Gabor (Alpha Chi/Syracuse 1948) has entered the Chapter Eternal. A member of the NBA’s Syracuse Nationals for six years, Gabor was known as one of the earliest basketball stars for Syracuse University.

Burnt Church Distillery will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th at 120 Bluffton Road, the future home of the distillery. Founded by brothers Billy and Sean Watterson, the distillery will invest $10.3 million and 27 new jobs into the community. Bluffton Mayor Lisa Sulka said, “We are thrilled to see that Burnt Church Distillery is investing in our community."
