Grants and Scholarships

Applications for 2025/2026 academic year scholarships will be available in January!

The Foundation Chapter of Theta Chi provides scholarships to brothers pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees who demonstrate outstanding academic performance; service to the Fraternity, school, and community; leadership activities; financial need; and clear personal and career goals and objectives. Please see more information about these scholarships below.

Sherwood and Janet Roberts Blue Memorial Scholarship

Blue Memorial Scholarships are given to brothers pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees who demonstrate scholastic aptitude and financial need. Recipients are selected by a committee of the Foundation Chapter.

These scholarships are named in memory of Sherwood Blue (Alpha Iota/Indiana 1926) and his wife Janet Roberts Blue, whose substantial estate gift funds the scholarships. Brother Blue, was the founder and first President of the Foundation Chapter and served as National President from 1952 to 1954.

Victor Simon Memorial Scholarship

Simon Memorial Scholarships are awarded to Theta Chi brothers who are pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate engineering degrees.

The Simon Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of Victor H. Simon (Beta Lambda/Akron 1935), an engineering major who started his own company in Chicago called Pioneer Service Engineering Consultants, specializing in power generation. His firm was later sold to the Fluor Corporation. During his career, Brother Simon became an industry leader in power generation consulting. He designated a portion of his estate in the form of a planned gift to the Foundation Chapter to provide an endowed scholarship fund for engineering majors within Theta Chi.
