When Omar Hosny (2010) transferred to California State University, East Bay, he missed the brotherhood he had experienced as an active member of Theta Chi at Chico State. Soon after his transfer, he contacted then-Regional Director Tys Sniffen to find out how to go about restarting the chapter there.

Brother Sniffen put him in contact with Brother Joe Calder (Theta Mu/CSU-East Bay 2001), who talked to Brother Hosny about the history of the chapter and helped establish a few nearby alumni contacts. The process of recruiting members for an interest group began soon after. Operating under the name “The Regulators,” 13 new members were officially welcomed to the Theta Mu colony on Oct. 27.

The Colonization Ceremony was held at the Agora Stage in front of the CSUEB University Union. National Vice President Bill Palmer was the Presiding Officer. JD Ford, Director of Recruitment and Expansion, and Leadership and Education Consultant Matthew Gillis were also in attendance.

CSUEB is located in Hayward, CA, in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area. The University has undergone numerous transitions and changed its name accordingly. Founded in 1957 as a state college, in 1961 it became Alameda Co. State College, in 1963, California State College at Hayward, in 1972, California State University, Hayward, and to reflect a more widespread objective, California State University, East Bay, in 2005.

CSUEB has a student population of more than 13,000 and is home to a Greek population consisting of 10 fraternities, 11 sororities, and three co-ed fraternities.
