Theta Chi again has a presence at Colorado State following the recolonization of Delta Eta Chapter on March 24, 2012. Eighteen new members formally pledged to Theta Chi. Past Grand Chapter member CJ Vanstrom served as presiding officer and was assisted by Regional Counselor Zach Baittinger. Representing the International Headquarters staff was Leadership and Education Consultant Cody Chinn.

Theta Chi’s latest expansion effort began in January 2012 with the arrival of LECs Cody Chinn and Eddie Higginbotham. Brothers Chinn and Higginbotham met with student leaders, Greek life staff and University administrators to identify potential undergraduates who could play a role in the Fraternity’s long-awaited return to campus.

Formal recruitment efforts began in February. Emphasizing a preference for campus involvement and student leadership, Chinn and Higginbotham recruited undergraduates from a wide range of organizations and activities, including the President’s Leadership Program, Army and Air Force ROTC, Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) and the Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement (SLiCE) office. Delta Eta Colony members are also resident assistants, orientation leaders, members of the Colorado State Marching Band and Presidential Ambassadors.

The group grew quickly, and on March 1 traveled to Denver to present their colonization petition to the Grand Chapter in person. The petition was approved early the following morning. Delta Eta has been inactive since 1973.

Founded as Colorado Agricultural College in 1870, Colorado State University today is home to more than 24,000 undergraduate students, 17 NIC-affiliated fraternities and six NPC sororities and women’s fraternities.
