Carmel, IN – Theta Chi Fraternity is proud to announce Matthew Lenno, Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Towson University as the 2016 recipient of the Floyd W. Field Award. Matt is a member of Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity and holds a Masters of Education from the University of Delaware. He is the primary adviser for Towson’s four Greek councils and 35 chapters, supervising two full-time coordinators. Outside of his professional role, Matt serves on Kappa Delta Rho’s board of directors as the National Vice President for Education, owns a risk management consulting business, is a nationally certified TIPS trainer, and has a seat on the University of Delaware Greek Alumni Association where he is a founding member.
Since establishing our Iota Sigma Chapter at Towson, Matt has been a friend to Theta Chi, going so far as to write recommendation letters for the Fraternity’s expansion efforts. He has continuously supported Theta Chi locally and internationally in a number of areas, and is a model campus based friend of the organization.
The Floyd W. Field Award honors outstanding university administrators and faculty including Deans of Students, Greek Advisors and chapter advisors who have made extraordinary efforts toward the enhancement of the Greek movement.
Floyd W. Field (Alpha Nu/Georgia Institute of Technology 1923) graduated from Harvard University in 1902 and became an alumnus initiate of Theta Chi Fraternity when the Alpha Nu Chapter was installed at the George Tech. He was a professor of mathematics and the first Dean of Students at George Tech, petitioning the board of trustees to create the position of Dean to better supervise undergraduate life. Brother Field is recognized as a visionary leader among early college deans who not only challenged universities to recognize the role of student life in the collegiate environment but also challenged fraternities to pay closer attention to scholarship, recruitment, and new member education.
