Even though the head shaving has become more of a symbol than an incentive, the fundraising at Gamma Rho chapter goes on. What began as an attempt to raise $5,000 to help two of their brothers undergoing treatment for cancer soon became a $25,000 goal. That goal has also been surpassed. To date, the brothers of Gamma Rho have raised more than $45,000 and the donations just keep coming.

And the news keeps getting better. Oliver Bucknell, who was diagnosed with Stage II Metastatic Melanoma in February 2011, and bumped to Stage IV in 2012 when a small cancerous nodule in his right wrist appeared, is now in remission. Bucknell, an actuarial science major, will resume his studies this summer after taking the spring semester off to focus on his treatment.

Adam Jankowski, who was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, has just one more round of chemotherapy left, but is considered to be mostly cancer free since his recent pet scans have shown no signs of any hot spots of cancer cells. Jankowski, a computer science major, plans to resume classes this fall.
