Theta Chi formally established a new colony at Averett University in Danville, VA. Ten undergraduates gave their pledge to Theta Chi at the April 15 ceremony, with past National Vice President Al Calarco representing the Grand Chapter as presiding officer.

Averett University President Tiffany M. Franks, Dean of Students William Woodward, Director of Student Engagement Lesley Villarose and Student Body President Christopher West all attended as well. Representing the International Headquarters staff was Leadership and Education Consultant Denny Vaggalis.

The initial interest group formed when a group of undergraduates identifying with Theta Chi’s organizational values saw an opportunity to help other Averett students interact with each other, participate in community service events, network and build lasting relationships. The group contacted the International Headquarters in late October 2011 and received training and guidance from LEC Vaggalis over the following weeks.
