Join us in bidding Bryan Alig farewell as we commend him on more than five years of excellence in collegiate services and chapter and member development.
Bryan joined Theta Chi’s staff as Director of Education in December 2019 and was promoted to Sr. Director of Chapter Development in February 2024. In his original role, he led the Fraternity’s education initiatives and served as the steward for The Resolute Man initiative. He created and implemented curriculum for the Fraternity’s key leadership education events and trained faculty volunteers to promote the vision and mission of each conference. In his second role, he measured chapter success, provided opportunities for continued chapter improvement, and managed a team of Assistant Directors of Chapter Development.

Prior to his role on staff, Bryan served as an Assistant Principal for Hamilton Southeastern Schools before learning about an opportunity at the International Headquarters.
“My wife saw the email before I did, and she said it sounded like it was right up my alley,” Bryan recalled.
Bryan’s favorite things from his time at Theta Chi International Headquarters were the relationships he was able to build and maintain with collegiate brothers and alumni volunteers. But his personal proudest achievement from his time on staff was his work with The Resolute Man initiative.
“When I came on as Director of Education, The Resolute Man had existed for three years, but we had not seen the excitement and level of participation that had initially been desired. Now, as I depart, we’ve gone from 12 to nearly 600 Resolute Men over that time. Watching the initiative evolve while being able to encourage our collegiate brothers on their Resolute Man journey will always hold a special place in my heart,” Bryan said.

Some of Bryan’s favorite chapters to work with and travel to include Eta/Rhode Island, Phi/North Dakota State, Epsilon Kappa/Idaho, and Iota Tau/Northern Kentucky – just to name a few.
Over the past five years, Bryan attended a number of Fraternity events including the 165th Anniversary Celebration in Lexington, KY, in 2021, the 166th Anniversary Convention in Washington D.C. in 2022, and the 168th Anniversary Convention in New Orleans in 2024, but his favorite Theta Chi event was his first Initiative Academy in 2023.
“Seeing collegiate brothers and alumni come to my Alpha Iota Chapter House in Bloomington, IN, for an event like this was very meaningful – but also seeing these men be vulnerable with each other and become closer as brothers at Initiative Academy was a very special highlight for me. From the moment they walked in the door to the moment they left; it was a night and day comparison. It gave me an opportunity to see not only the transformative nature of The Resolute Man initiative, but also, see how alumni support is critically important to the development of these young men.”

A final piece of advice Bryan wanted to share was to his fellow alumni – it’s never too late, and you’re never too old to get reengaged with the Fraternity.
“When I graduated in 1999, aside from a few golf outings I didn’t spend much time engaging with the Fraternity. For a while, I just thought of it as ‘something I did at [Indiana University].’ It took me 20 years to reconnect and when I came to work here, it gave me perspective on how truly large, expansive, and dynamic this wonderful Fraternity of ours is. Don’t let those opportunities pass you by.”
As Bryan begins his next chapter, he is certain it will include working with college-aged men and helping them better transition to the professional realm, all while still extending an Assisting Hand to Theta Chi Fraternity as a volunteer.
Thank you for your more than five years of service to Theta Chi Fraternity, Bryan! We wish you the best in your newest endeavors.
