Beta Omicron’s Ian Owens (2016) was recently tapped into Phi Rho Chi Honor Society at the University of Cincinnati. Phi Rho Chi is a local honor society for fraternity men that excel in fraternity leadership, pride and ambition, and exemplify excellence in recruitment, not just for their fraternity, but the whole of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Phi Rho Chi supports men’s recruitment programs and initiatives. Owens was the first member of Theta Chi at the University of Cincinnati to be tapped into Phi Rho Chi.
Assistant Editor of The Rattle, Kelly Jones, spoke recently with Owens about his induction.
When did you learn that you were to be tapped into Phi Rho Chi?
“The brothers of Phi Rho Chi came to our chapter house and tapped me in before our chapter meeting. I was told that another organization was coming to make an announcement at our house, so I was surprised to find out I was getting tapped into Phi Rho Chi,” said Owens.
What did this induction mean to you?
“I am honored to be a part of an organization recognizing fraternity leadership, but also to be the first ever member to represent Theta Chi in Phi Rho Chi at the University of Cincinnati. I believe this speaks directly to how our chapter has grown in recruitment over the past few years and other organizations have noticed. This is another great step for our chapter in just our third year since re-chartering, and there will be many great things to come,” said Owens.
