Beta Chi Alumnus Named to Buffalo Business First's 2021 Class of "40 Under 40"

Past Chapter President Thomas Ess (Beta Chi/Allegheny 2004) was selected to Buffalo Business First’s 2021 Class of “40 Under 40.” Ess, who works as People Inc.’s vice president of emergency management safety, was selected in this year’s class on September 23 and was honored on November 18 at an in-person ceremony.

“After winning this award, I was asked to describe myself in one word for Business First,” said Ess. “The word that came to mind was resolute. My time in Theta Chi… gave me opportunities and experiences that were both rewarding and challenging. There are real life problems to solve most people not in a fraternity or sorority might not be put in a position to have to solve complex problems. Navigating that at a young age is a defining experience and one I will always treasure and look back at with love and respect.”

People Inc. noted Tom’s knowledge, outstanding leadership, compassion, and skills were just a few reasons he was deserving of this recognition. In Ess’ own words to his followers, “It was an honor to be awarded this recognition. Congratulations to my fellow recipients… I am humbled to be honored with you.”
