The USO 75th Anniversary

Just prior to the onset of America’s involvement in World War II in 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt sought to unite several service associations into one organization to lift the morale of our military and nourish support on the home front. Those entities – the Salvation Army, Young Men’s Christian Association, Young Women’s Christian Association, National Catholic Community Services, National Travelers Aid Association and the National Jewish Welfare Board - became the United Service Organizations or, the USO.

Seventy-five years later, the USO is still committed to strengthening America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. We believe service members draw strength from connecting to the things they love and fight for - and one of the best ways to show our appreciation as a nation is through messages of support and gratitude. On Thursday, February 4th as part of our 75th Anniversary celebration we invite you to join us in our campaign to connect and send a message to our military members and their families.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

The USO’s 75th Anniversary campaign to connect is an effort to generate 1 MILLION messages of support and gratitude from Americans to service members and military families around the world beginning on our anniversary, Thursday, February 4. Join us in this movement by:

  • Visiting USO.org/connects – the USO’s new digital message platform – and send as many messages as you like starting on the USO’s Anniversary, February 4th
  • Share a personal message on your own social channels to service members and their families using #USOconnects
  • Help spread the word – encourage friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to do the same!

Theta Chi Fraternity is proudly supporting the USO’s campaign to connect. Today we challenge you to honor the men and women who serve our country, and reflect on the support your chapter has given them through the USO. Join us in sending our gratitude to United States service men and women at home and abroad.
