AUGUST 27, 2014 - Carmel, IN -The 2013 recipient of the Grand Chapter Scholarship Award is no stranger to this honor. Our recipient has successfully earned the award for the second consecutive year and is the first chapter in more than threee decades to receive the award in consecutive years. As back-to-back recipients, they join just four other chapters: Sigma/Oregon State in 1932 & 1933; Beta Gamma/North Dakota in 1934 & 1935; Alpha Omega/Lafayette in 1937 & 1938; and Gamma Sigma/Duke in 1981 and 1982.
Theta Chi Fraternity is proud to announce the 2013 recipient of the Grand Chapter Scholarship Award:
- Delta Eta/Colorado State University
Delta Eta Chapter earned an average GPA of 3.335 for the 2013 calendar year. The all men's average GPA at Colorado State was 2.785.
The fraternity’s maxim is used to emphasize Theta Chi's commitment to the mission of the institution in all aspects and responsibility of our members to be an active participant in campus affairs. The maxim implies that Theta Chi members are to be loyal to their alma maters, both as students and as alumni. As students, the greatest loyalty to alma mater is shown by excelling in academic work.
The Grand Chapter Scholarship Award, also referred to as the Stanford Trophy, is presented each year to the chapter with the most outstanding academic record for the previous calendar year. The award is represented by a trophy which was given to the Grand Chapter by Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Stanford University in 1928. The Grand Chapter Scholarship Award winner is determined by comparing the chapter GPA to the campus all-men’s average. Since some campuses measure grades outside of the traditional 4.0 scale, a formula is utilized to properly gauge academic performance for each chapter and to determine a winner.
Congratulations to Delta Eta Chapter!
